Overview
OdoGrid is designed to protect your privacy by default. The app operates entirely offline and does not transmit your vehicle data to any external server owned or operated by us.
All vehicle details, fuel logs, maintenance records, trip logs, and expenses are stored locally on your device inside an AES-256 hardware-backed encrypted Isar database. No account is required. No cloud registration. Your data belongs to you.
Data We Collect
We store the following data types locally on your device only:
| Data | Where Stored | Leaves Device? |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle details (make, model, VIN, plate) | Local encrypted Isar DB | Only if you export manually |
| Fuel logs & odometer readings | Local encrypted Isar DB | Only if you export manually |
| Maintenance records & expenses | Local encrypted Isar DB | Only if you export manually |
| Trip logs & business mileage | Local encrypted Isar DB | Only if you export manually |
| App preferences (currency, theme) | SharedPreferences (device) | Never |
| Location (GPS for station tagging) | Never persisted | Never — in-memory only, discarded immediately |
Third-Party Services
OdoGrid integrates with the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy:
Displays ads after consent is granted (GDPR compliant). Three ad formats are used: banner ads on list pages, rewarded ads gating premium exports and AI Assistant analysis, and frequency-capped interstitial ads shown at most once every three saves across fuel, maintenance, and expense entries. Users can purchase a one-time Remove Ads entitlement.
If you enable backup, your encrypted database is stored in your own Google Drive
appDataFolder
— invisible to all other apps. OdoGrid does not have access to the rest of your Drive.
If enabled, encrypted backup ZIPs are stored in your Dropbox app folder
/Apps/OdoGrid.
OdoGrid does not access your other Dropbox files. Auto-backup silently skips if
Dropbox has not yet been connected in the current session — the app never opens a
browser or OAuth prompt in the background without your explicit action.
Collects crash diagnostics to improve stability and reliability. It does not collect your vehicle log content.
Helps measure app usage and feature quality trends. Vehicle records remain stored locally in the encrypted on-device database.
OCR text recognition for receipt scanning runs entirely on-device using the Google ML Kit Text Recognition API. No images or scan results are ever uploaded.
Advertising & Consent
We display ads via Google AdMob on Android only. On first launch, you are presented with a GDPR consent dialog. You may decline personalised ads — the app remains fully functional with non-personalised ads shown instead.
You can also purchase a one-time Remove Ads entitlement via Google Play Billing to disable all ads permanently.
Data Export & Deletion
You can export all your data at any time from Privacy & Data → Export My Data in JSON, PDF, or Excel format. Each export is gated behind a short rewarded ad; if the ad fails to load the export proceeds immediately. Exports include real stored values (including VIN and plate number).
To permanently delete all data, go to Privacy & Data → Wipe Data. This deletes the encrypted database and all secure hardware-backed keys from your device. This action is irreversible.
Cloud Backup & Auto Sync
Once you complete your first successful backup or restore for a provider, OdoGrid enables automatic backup by default — no additional configuration required. The app silently backs up your encrypted database each time it is brought to the foreground, provided the configured interval (Daily, Weekly, or Monthly) has elapsed since the last successful run. You can adjust the backup frequency at any time from Backup & Sync in the app — it is not limited to the Settings page.
If you connect Google Drive, your encrypted Isar database
is transferred directly to your personal Google Drive
appDataFolder
— invisible to all other apps. OdoGrid does not have access to your Google credentials
or the contents of the uploaded file. Backups are compressed (ZIP), timestamped, and
auto-deduplicated so only the latest backup is retained. A Google Drive restore fully
replaces your local database.
If you connect Dropbox, encrypted ZIP backups are stored
in your Dropbox app folder
(/Apps/OdoGrid).
OdoGrid does not access your other Dropbox files. Dropbox restores merge missing records
into your existing local data. If Dropbox has not been connected in the current session,
scheduled auto-backups skip silently — the app never opens a browser or OAuth prompt in the
background without your explicit action.
